• Group Classes
  • My group classes offer small class sizes - (a maximum of 8 dogs). This allows for a lot of individual attention and coaching during the class. We focus on teaching your dog the commands and manners that help your dog learn how to be a well behaved member of your household. Basic classes address commands such as sit, down, stay, come, leave it and walking on a leash. I offer puppy classes, adult dog classes, advanced classes, agility for fun and canine good citizen classes. All classes must have at least 3 signups or may be postponed.     Class Descriptions
  • Fun Tricks - Livermore - Have fun teaching your dog new Tricks!
    For dogs 5 months and older. Cost: $120 for 6 week class ($100 for previous Tell a Tail Students)
    This class will focus on teaching your dog new tricks! We will focus on several different training techinques including luring, capturing and shaping. We will also work on a variety of different types of behaviors including targeting, retrieving, tricks with props, freestyle tricks and agility skills. This class requires that students have taken a previous class with Tell a Tail or have instructor approval

  • Perfect Puppies - Livermore - Begin teaching your puppy good manners and social skills!
    For puppies 8-20 weeks. Cost: $120 for 6 week class
    The primary focus of this class is to give puppies the best start at life during this critical learning stage for dogs through socialization, beginning obedience, handling exercises and problem solving. We will address common puppy issues such as potty training and puppy biting and also begin to teach your puppy basic commands such as sit, down, stay, leave it and come. We will also focus on socializing your puppy to new experiences, people and have puppy play time!

  • Perfect Puppies - Pleasanton - For dogs 10 weeks to 5 months
    The primary focus of this class is to give puppies the best start at life during this critical learning stage for dogs through socialization, beginning obedience, handling exercises and problem solving. We will address common puppy issues such as potty training and puppy biting and also begin to teach your puppy basic commands such as sit, down, stay, leave it and come. We will also focus on socializing your puppy to new experiences, people and have puppy play time! Please bring proof of current vaccinations (the first 2 sets in the series) on the first day of class. Junior handlers must be accompanied by a legal guardian during the class. First class is orientation-do not bring your dog.

  • Family Dog in Livermore - For dogs 5 months and older
    During this course, dogs and their humans will be introduced to basic obedience commands and good manners. The primary focus of the program is to give dogs the best chance at being a good member of your family by starting beginning obedience, and behavior problem-solving by the use of the most modern and powerful positive training principles. Please bring proof of current vaccinations including DHLPP and Rabies on the first day of class. Families are welcome to attend. This class meets outside and will be weather dependent. If a class is cancelled, the makeup classes will be scheduled on the same day of week/time of day in the weeks following the scheduled class.


  • Family Dog in Pleasanton - For dogs 5 months and older
    During this course, dogs and their humans will be introduced to basic obedience commands and good manners. The primary focus of the program is to give dogs the best chance at being a good member of your family by starting beginning obedience, and behavior problem-solving by the use of the most modern and powerful positive training principles. Please bring proof of current vaccinations including DHLPP and Rabies on the first day of class. Families are welcome to attend. Junior handlers must be over the age of 14 and accompanied by a legal guardian during the entire class. First class is orientation-do not bring your dog.


  • Canine Good Citizen Preparation and Test - For dogs 5 months and older
    This 4 week preparation class focuses on practicing and polishing the skills needed to pass the AKC Canine Good Citizen test. The CGC program is open to purebreeds as well as mixed breeds. The ten step test covers the basic exercises needed to make your dog a welcome canine companion including sit, down, stay, walking nicely on leash, appropriately greeting humans, polite behavior around another dog, etc. Dogs are required to have completed a basic obedience class before taking this class. Please bring proof of current vaccinations (including Rabies and DHLPP) to the first class. The AKC CGC test will be offered as a separate class on February 15th. You are not required to take the preparation class to take the test.


  • Family Dog II - For dogs 5 months and older
    Take the skills you have learned in Perfect Puppies and Family Dog to the next level. Improve your dog's reliability with increased distractions. Continue to work on fading out treats and extraneous cues. Start teaching your dog to respond at a distance and begin the steps to achieve off-leash control. Improve your dog's come and stay commands and work on teaching your dog to heel. Dogs are required to have completed a basic obedience class before taking this class and must have current vaccinations that include Kennel Cough on the first day of class. Families are welcome to attend. Junior handlers must be over the age of 14 and accompanied by a legal guardian during the entire class. Please bring your dog on a flat collar, harness or head halter and lots of tiny treats to the first class


  • Agility For Fun
    Introduce your dog to the sport of agility in a fun and safe way! Teach your dog to go through tunnels, over jumps and start learning to do the weave poles and teeter. This class will introduce your dog to several pieces of agility equipment and the handler to basic agility handling manuvers. Dogs are required to have basic obedience including sit, down, stay and come in a distracting environment. Dogs must also be dog and people friendly. Bring your dog to the first class on a regular flat buckle collar with lots of tasty tiny treats. Humans should be comfortably dressed and ready to be active. This class meets outside and will be weather dependent. If a class is cancelled, the makeup classes will be scheduled on the same day of week/time of day in the weeks following the scheduled class.
